Bethany Youth/Parent Discussion FORUM
The Gods Aren't Angry
Thursday, December 4, 6:30-8:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall
More than ever the Bethany youth team is convinced that discussing matters of faith in the context of the family is vital. We love it that students are able to process their relationship with Jesus at youth group with peers and youth leaders, but we also want to provide unique and interesting events that will spark discussion amongst families as well. Once a quarter, the Bethany youth team will be offering an opportunity to do just that.
This quarter we will be watching an hour long video called "The God's Aren't Angry" by Rob Bell. This is a modern day gospel presentation that ultimately affirms that there is a God that loves unconditionally. The interesting part is how Bell gets to that point. He deals with questions like:
- Where did the first caveman or cavewoman get the idea that somebody, somewhere existed who needed to be worshiped, appeased and followed?
- How did the idea evolve that if you didn't say, do, or offer the right things, this being would be upset, agitated or even angry with you?
- Where did religion come from?
This will most likely be the last presentation we watch from Rob Bell. In the future, we hope to watch other multi-media presentations and are also planning on bringing in some guest speakers. The main goal is to get families interacting with each other on matters of faith.
