Monks at Prayer / Pastor Dan Baumgartner
I walk into the St. John's Abbey Church for Evening Prayer, the building itself a monument of 1960's modernist architecture and massive concrete. A few other people enter after me, all of us directed to seats in the "choir" section at the very front of the cavernous sanctuary...
Can We Talk...About Race? / Rev. Lynne Faris Blessing
While at a family reunion this summer, my cousin asked me what I've been working on lately. I started to tell him about our church's efforts to try to figure out what it looks like to pursue racial reconciliation and about how a group of us have been meeting with people from churches in the region who want to see what God might have us do together...
Group Life / Marie Fritzberg
It's that time of year once again. Students purchase supplies and anticipate a new school year. Soccer fields are filled with players warming up as they begin a new season. We move from relaxed summer days back to our normal routines, sometimes creating new ones in the process. With this new season, could God be calling you to join or start a small group?...
Vacation Bible School / Ruth Seidel
I'm an in-betweener: I have grown children but no grandchildren yet. It's been a while since I attended Vacation Bible School or had a 3-year-old on my lap...
Bon Appetit!/ by Sara McMahon
What's in your freezer right now? Is it a Costco lasagna? Maybe some frozen pizzas? An old bag of peas at the very back? Know what's in mine? Moroccan Chicken, Sweet Potato Stew, a fritatta, and the list goes on...
Alpha: Life Changing Experiences Begin With A Simple "Yes"
/ Kathryn Solan
Joseph and I didn't know each other before Alpha last year. In fact, at this time last year, I didn't know a single person amon gthe eight others in my Alpha group. Now, I can't imagine my life without them!...
Children's Ministries
Fall Kick Off!
All children's classes at both 9 & 10:45 am will start again for the 2008-9 school year on Sunday, September 14.
Thank You, Interns
We were incredibly blessed this summer by our two children's ministry interns, Sarah Reed (also known as Ruby the Rootser and "Joshua") and Whitney Broetje (also known as Farmer Whitney).
Please pray for these extraordinarily gifted young women as they continue to pursue God's call on their lives. Sarah completed her internship on August 15 and will be heading to Europe in early September, while Whitney will be with us a few more Sunday mornings before going back to complete her senior year at SPU, including Student Body Vice President responsibilities.
